The purpose of this quantitative and qualitative study was to discover the impact of a Pentecostal model of expository preaching within Pentecostal worship settings. The origins of this project arose out of the observation of the general shortage of expository preaching within the Pentecostal movement. The hope of the study was to offer an approach to the art and science of expository preaching that fits within existing Pentecostal hermeneutical and homiletical constructs. The participants had been exposed to Pentecostal topical preaching for one year prior to the study.

The research question was: "What influence would a Pentecostal approach to expository preaching have in Pentecostal worship services?" Utilizing quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, the test group was measured for impact in the affections. The hypothesis states: “A Pentecostal model of expository preaching will have a positive singular effect on the Pentecostal affections of gratitude, compassion, and courage."
